Squiddley (who's actually an octopus) was developed as part of an animated, Toy Story-like character for an Ivar's commercial. Now our steampunk octopus storms through a dystopian landscape in search of love.
In the original, he was constructed, animated, and rendered from drawings, using the best — though very primitive — tools available. Modern tools allow for fantastic expression, texture and atmosphere, and now animation can be built in a couple of days that took weeks thirty years ago.

Squiddley has been repurposed several times over the years, including his role as mascot for a Norwegian Syttende Mai parade, doubling as Hafgufa the Kraken.
Building the parts of the Ivars commercial required storyboarding, motion tests, and direction of the animators at Digital Post & Graphics.
